v1.3July 2026

Your count, on your Lock Screen

This update puts your counter everywhere you glance. Pin a live counter to your Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island, count from Control Center, and see your numbers in the Apple Watch Smart Stack.

  • Live Lock Screen counter: pin your row and stitch counts to the Lock Screen and tap +1 without unlocking your phone
  • Dynamic Island: your counts ride along at the top of the screen, and a long press opens big +1 buttons for both counters
  • Control Center: add Row +1 and Stitch +1 buttons for one-swipe counting from anywhere
  • Lock Screen widgets: inline, circular, and rectangular styles that show your counts at a glance
  • Apple Watch Smart Stack: the pinned counter appears on your watch with big, readable numbers that grow with your text size
  • 17 new stitch types in the pattern editor: shells, V-stitches, bobbles, popcorns, puffs, clusters, picots, crab stitch, herringbones, and more, for 33 stitches in all, each with US and UK names and a plain-English glossary entry
  • Undo for deletes and resets: removing a pattern, project, or yarn, or resetting a counter, now offers a few seconds to change your mind
  • Optional counter sounds: a soft click on each count, off by default and silent while your iPhone is muted

As always, HookPlan is a one-time purchase with free updates. Thank you for crocheting with me.

v1.2July 2026

Your work is never lost

This update is all about keeping your library safe. You can now back up everything to a single file and restore it any time, HookPlan keeps an automatic backup on your device, and patterns can carry a difficulty rating.

  • Backup and Restore: save your whole library (patterns, projects, and yarn) to one file you can keep in Files or iCloud Drive, or send to another device with AirDrop, then restore it any time
  • Automatic backups: HookPlan keeps a backup on your device on its own, and can recover from it if the app ever has trouble opening your library
  • Export and import: export all your patterns, or your full yarn stash, to share or print, and import a pattern from a file
  • Difficulty ratings: mark any pattern Beginner, Easy, Intermediate, or Experienced on the Craft Yarn Council scale
  • A yarn weight reference in Settings: every CYC category with the names yarn is actually sold under, UK and Australian ply conversions, and recommended hook and gauge ranges
  • Pattern editor upgrades: add a note to any stitch, start a section at any row number, and mark mid-row color changes that carry through to your WIP and exports (and autocorrect finally leaves sc and sl st alone)
  • WIP improvements: tap the eye on any row for a big single-row view, and long-press a row to mark everything up to it complete
  • Reliability and performance improvements to keep your library safe and your iPhone, Apple Watch, and widget in sync

As always, HookPlan is a one-time purchase with free updates. Thank you for crocheting with me.
