    Single Crochet

    UK: Double Crochet (Dc)

    Insert hook, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through both loops.

  • Hdc

    Half Double Crochet

    UK: Half Treble Crochet (Htr)

    Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through all 3 loops.

  • Dc

    Double Crochet

    UK: Treble Crochet (Tr)

    Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull through, [yarn over, pull through 2] twice.

  • Tr

    Treble Crochet

    UK: Double Treble Crochet (Dtr)

    Yarn over twice, insert hook, yarn over, pull through, [yarn over, pull through 2] three times.

  • Dtr

    Double Treble Crochet

    UK: Triple Treble Crochet (Ttr)

    Yarn over three times, insert hook, yarn over, pull through, [yarn over, pull through 2] four times.

    Triple Treble Crochet

    UK: Quadruple Treble (Qtr)

    Yarn over four times, insert hook, yarn over, pull through, [yarn over, pull through 2] five times.

    Slip Stitch

    UK: Slip Stitch (Ss)

    Insert hook, yarn over, pull through stitch and loop on hook.

  • Ch

    Chain

    UK: Chain (Ch)

    Yarn over, pull through loop on hook.

  • Inc

    Increase

    UK: Increase (Inc)

    Two stitches worked into the same stitch (increase by 1).

  • Sc2tog

    Single Crochet Two Together

    UK: Double Crochet Two Together (Dc2tog)

    Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over, pull through. Repeat in next stitch. Yarn over, pull through all 3 loops.

  • Dec

    Decrease

    UK: Decrease (Dec)

    Two stitches combined into one (decrease by 1). Often done as invisible decrease.

  • Inv dec

    Invisible Decrease

    UK: Invisible Decrease (Inv dec)

    Insert hook through front loops only of next two stitches, yarn over, pull through all loops.

  • Dc2tog

    Double Crochet Two Together

    UK: Treble Two Together (Tr2tog)

    Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through 2. Repeat in next stitch. Yarn over, pull through all 3 loops.

  • Fpdc

    Front Post Double Crochet

    UK: Front Post Treble (Fptr)

    Yarn over, insert hook from front around post of stitch below, complete as double crochet.

  • Bpdc

    Back Post Double Crochet

    UK: Back Post Treble (Bptr)

    Yarn over, insert hook from back around post of stitch below, complete as double crochet.

  • Sk

    Skip

    UK: Skip (Sk)

    Skip the next stitch without working into it.

  • MR

    Magic Ring

    UK: Magic Ring (MR)

    Create an adjustable ring to begin working in the round.

  • Hdc2tog

    Half Double Crochet Two Together

    UK: Half Treble Two Together (Htr2tog)

    Yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, yarn over, pull through. Repeat in the next stitch. Yarn over, pull through all 5 loops.

  • Sc3tog

    Single Crochet Three Together

    UK: Double Crochet Three Together (Dc3tog)

    Pull up a loop in each of the next three stitches, yarn over, pull through all 4 loops (decrease by 2).

  • Bo

    Bobble

    UK: Bobble (Bo)

    Work several partial double crochets (commonly 5) into one stitch, keeping the last loop of each on the hook, then yarn over and pull through all loops. Pops toward the back; push it to the front.

  • Pc

    Popcorn

    UK: Popcorn (Pc)

    Work 5 complete double crochets into one stitch, drop the loop, insert the hook in the first dc's top, catch the dropped loop, and pull it through.

  • Puff

    Puff Stitch

    UK: Puff Stitch (Puff)

    Yarn over, insert hook, pull up a long loop; repeat into the same stitch (commonly 3 times), yarn over, pull through all loops, ch 1 to close.

  • Cl

    Cluster

    UK: Cluster (Cl)

    Work several partial stitches (commonly 3 dc) into the same stitch or across stitches, keeping the last loop of each on the hook, then yarn over and pull through all loops.

  • Sh

    Shell

    UK: Shell (Sh)

    Work several complete stitches (commonly 5 dc) into the same stitch or space, fanning them out.

  • V-st

    V-Stitch

    UK: V-Stitch (V-st)

    Work (dc, ch 1, dc) into the same stitch or space, forming a V.

  • P

    Picot

    UK: Picot (P)

    Chain 3 (or as specified) and slip stitch into the first chain, forming a small decorative loop.

  • Rev sc

    Reverse Single Crochet (Crab Stitch)

    UK: Reverse Double Crochet (Rev dc)

    Single crochet worked left to right along the edge, creating a corded, rope-like edging.

  • Fptr

    Front Post Treble Crochet

    UK: Front Post Double Treble (Fpdtr)

    Yarn over twice, insert hook from the front around the post of the stitch below, complete as treble.

  • Bptr

    Back Post Treble Crochet

    UK: Back Post Double Treble (Bpdtr)

    Yarn over twice, insert hook from the back around the post of the stitch below, complete as treble.

  • Csc

    Waistcoat Stitch (Center Single Crochet)

    UK: Centre Double Crochet (Cdc)

    Single crochet worked into the center of the V of the stitch below (between the two vertical legs) instead of under the top loops. Dense, knit-look fabric.

  • Esc

    Extended Single Crochet

    UK: Extended Double Crochet (Edc)

    Insert hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, chain 1, yarn over, pull through both loops. Slightly taller and looser than sc.

  • Hhdc

    Herringbone Half Double Crochet

    UK: Herringbone Half Treble (Hhtr)

    Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull the loop through the stitch and the first loop on the hook, yarn over, pull through the remaining two loops. Slanted, woven look.

  • Hbdc

    Herringbone Double Crochet

    UK: Herringbone Treble (Hbtr)

    Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull the loop through the stitch and the first loop on the hook, yarn over, pull through one loop, yarn over, pull through the remaining two.
